BEHIND THE MIST is the latest Tall Guy Release, coming out 1/3/17. It's an album of solo vibraphone improvisations. Martin decided to record this music after playing in a couple of improv sessions organised by Cath Roberts and Dee Byrne of LUME music. As with many of his compositions he decided to to focus on a literary stimulus, on this occasion tales of Faeries from the British Isles. The resulting music is mostly delicate, ephemeral and intimate. Martin feels this if probably the most "naked" musical statement he has recorded to date. Available to pre order from band camp now

BLOW BALL is a live recording of an improvised set Martin played with Tom Ward, and is available on band camp for just £1.00!

SAN ANGELO is the first album recorded by Martin's trio Busnoys, with Jim Barr on bass and baritone guitars, and Trevor Davies on the drums. You'll here elements of free jazz, mixed with melodic, cinematic Americana, and touches of electronica. As with much of Martin's music there are a lot of literary influences at play here, from Wilkie Collins to Cormac McCarthy.

"Busnoys San Angelo offers an intelligent, imaginative combination of vibes, bass guitar and drums. At times recalling Gary Burton's sixties group with Steve Swallow, this is a genuinely contemporary record that should appeal to new as well as established jazz fans" - JAZZ UK MAGAZINE

BY TAPERING TORCHLIGHT, Busnoys' second album sees Jeff Spencer come in on bass, and taking on production duties.  There's also a guest spot from Pete Judge on trumpet. The free jazz, and Americana flavours remain, but the album is also highly influenced by early vocal music, particularly the recordings of Trio Mediaeval  (By Tapering Torchlight), and Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale (oom? ... Pah!)

 "Atmospheric, laidback creativity...works superbly" AllAboutJazz

"The beautiful sound of Busnoys" Fiona Talkington: Radio3's LATE JUNCTION

Busnoys' third album, WEAVING THE SPELL, possibly the most rounded album they've produced so far. This includes a guest spot, on the title track, from stunning violinist/vocalist Gina Griffin.

"This album is a little triumph. A glowing, sometimes austere, occasionally dark beauty emerges as the set unfolds." - Mike Collins - London Jazz News

" gorgeous and inventive recording...a masterclass in the creation of atmospheric musical imagery." Bruce Lindsay : All About Jazz

DANGEROUS KITCHEN was the band, and album, that launched Tall Guy Records. It features Martin playing drums and percussion, (but not vibraphone on this occasion), with fellow percussionist and instrument maker Simon Allen, and the legendary British saxophonist Stan Sulzmann. It's an album I'm still hugely proud of, and is notable in that it features Stan playing completely freely improvised music, apart from the use of an old Wiltshire folk song on the final track.
